First and Second Language Acquisition
TASK 1
Make 6 groups. Search around the floor in all accessible spaces for 6 envelopes (one per group). When you find one, stay in the space where it was. Open the envelope and for each sentence/claim inside, decide whether it is true for:
- L1 acquisition only
- L2 acquisition only
- both L1 and L2 acquisition.
We will meet back in the class 404 at 16:25.
For feedback, check moodle - chapter 3.5
Take 5-10 minutes to compare your results with the moodle material.
TASK 2
Make groups of three.
Each group will send a representative, who draws a lot for them. The group will have 10 minutes to prepare a presentation of the chosen term - a clear, brief explanation, including examples, associations, illustrations, including all possible aspects which will support understanding and remembering of the term.
After 10 minutes, each group will present for the whole class. (In alphabetical order, based on the chosen word.)

Information Gap
"The communicative approach to language learning stresses the need for meaningful communication, emphasising that if students have a genuine reason or motivation to talk then they will learn to use the language more effectively."

Or simply: Nothing to say - no need to study a langauge.
Task:
Go to ESL PRINTABLES PAGE. Choose an activity you like among the information gap worksheet, and try it out with your partner. Make notes:
- What is the target group?
- Is the topic and task reflecting our reality/culture?
- What are the vocabulary and structures needed?
- Did you enjoy the activity? Why, why not?
